oh man, what a nightmare. Yep, the rain was starting just as we left. I would definitely give that place a bad write up on a few websites...or at least tell me about it so that I never put any of my guest there :)
Keep in touch
Yes NZ has similar landscapes to Hawaii as NZ is also built on Volcanoes maybe near the aeras closer to the shorelines and down in the South Island. We have great places to tramp, swim, sail and dive and all the outdoor has to offer and the people are not bad to :o)
But we don't have the heat you have there. But we do ok in the summer, NZ in summer is great as well in winter with the skiing.
Have been to Hawaii twice and loved it, but only been to Honolulu ,but I am planning on going back for another visit next year hopefully this time get out the other Islands.
Because Kiwi's have a similar culture to Hawaii with the polynesian side,I like to get to know more about other cultures when traveling.
But I am sure you will like it here, hope you like the great outdoors.
Hi Sandy, thanks for the being a friend on this site. What a great place you live. Kauai is my parent's favorite Hawaiian island because it's less touristy. I hear all the islands there are beautiful, though. I won't be going on the trip to NZ d/t work. I will get down there eventually. I love to travel & wish I did it more often. Have a wonderful time & everyone here that you'll probably meet seem like a fun bunch.
Mahalo for the warm welcome.... I still am making my plans for travel to NZ.. but plan on being at the ball...what ever that ends up to be....sounds like one big meet and greet...
Glad you have been to Kauai...Ive lived there for 2 years and love it NOW..it took a while, since I moved there by myself and had never been there before!
But its not to hard to learn to love paradise as I do now and have many friends and a great job that lets me off all of OCT...so adventure to NZ sounds like a plan! Keep in touch, Sandy

Kia Ora, Sandy!
It is nice to see other fellow travelers who are taking a risk and traveling to places they've never been. I visited Kauai for the first time last year. I decided it's time to do more. I hope you can make it to the Ball. I look forward to meeting you Sandy! You're more than welcome to join us.
Welcome to the site, it is great to have you here :-) This is an eclectic group of people mainly from North America and New Zealand connecting about so many different topics. Ultimately, the North Americans will fly to Auckland and get the chance to meet up with the Kiwis they have met online. I hope to get to meet you at The Great Matchmaking Ball in Auckland.
If you have any questions, just let me know. In the meantime, there is so much to do - why don't you start a discussion, join a group, or watch a video
By the way - u just about freaked me out 'cause of the ironic timing of your :"name" on this site. Got another very good friend named "Sandy" - she is not in this group, yet, but give it a few hours/weeks....
OMG. I think I need to come and visit you. I'm going to Switzerland this summer(July) Maybe a winter trip down under? You got that California look instead of a New Zealand look. I love it!! Gary
