Hi JP,
Your perception of Romance is lovely, and your words I am sure would have struck a chord with a few members of the Romantic Forum and others on this site as well.

Sounds like you've been having a wonderful time. I think it'd be great if you could join us on the flight from LAX - though that's a long way to go to turn around and come back!
Hi Guy,
Wow, what a great life you have made for yourself! It must be so amazing to live where you do, and sharing that with others via touring them around is very gracious of you. From what I can see, NZ is a special place to be protected, and I'm glad you're involved in that, too.
I wanted to send you some more pics of the FL trip, but there doesn't seem to be a way to attach them to a message. Maybe I'll add a couple more here.
I am so excited about this trip, I can't even fully convey it! I can't wait! I believe NZ is a great country to visit for my first international trip. Perhaps my next trip will be to the oldest country in the world, whatever that is. Hold on, I am going to look that up. . . Well, it looks like that depends on a few things, but my thinking was along the lines of the middle east or China, which are both on the list. San Marino was also listed, something else I have to look up.
Anyway, it would be great if you were on the flight :-) Are you serious about meeting the flight at the airport? That will be a little early, but so cool of you!
It is sad, but FL was my biggest trip in awhile - I work quite a bit. I'm in psychiatric hospital administration and I am also an adult eduation teacher for the residents/patients there. I teach general ed and help those who wish to study for and obtain their high school equivalency certificate. I am also taking some science classes in order to go back to my alma mater to further my degree. I will be in Chemistry while on this trip - do you think I'll get much studying done? lol. I am going to try to work ahead before the trip so I don't have to study much.
My kitty is a calico, and she just showed up one night and won't leave. She was probly less than a year old when she moved in on me, and has been around at least a couple years now. She is soooooo sweet.
I wanted to visit Taupo Lake as it looks amazingly beautiful, but it didn't work out that way. There are a few other places I won't be able to see, either, but I think that just means I'll be visiting multiple times!
It's going to be great to meet everyone at the ball - what fun! I'd like to jump off the tower after checking in. Weeeeeee!
Til next time,
Monique
Hi Guy, no I didn't get the chance to go. I have only just moved up here from New Plymouth and with a new job and exams it was all rather hectic. Perhaps next year. It sounds like you have some good friends in the right places though! I am always willing to trade recipes! Cheers Louise
Hi Guy,
Thanks for the reply and kind words :) Yes, I'm going on the flight and am planning on attending the Auckland ball. It all sounds so fun - October 13th can't come fast enough! This is my first international trip (I know, pretty sad), but so goes life. I am very excited.
I liked your pictures - looks like you have a good time! The lake and mountain pictures are so beautiful. I am eager to see your amazing country.
The fort pictures are from a fort in St. Augustine, FL, and it was first established by Spain. It "changed hands" numerous times between France, England and Spain, from what I understand. It was an interesting experience to visit this fort and get a feel for what it was like to live/work there. The canons were pretty amazing. There were so many different ones! I have more pics if you want me to email them to you.
Talk to you soon!
Monique
Hi Guy
It was wonderful living in Auckland. I had to leave cos I didnt have papers or a passport to stay. Was gonna marry an old friend from SA but there were too many dramas and my daughter was being adversely affected as well. We lived on North Shore in Sunnynook and then in Birkenhead. I worked on Fridays for Tim Willis (Solicitor) in St Helliers it was so wonderful driving to work everyday cos its so beautiful over the bridge looking at the water every day. If we had got residency in NZ we would never have left.
Now I live in a town called Germiston which is 15kms from Joburg. South Africa is a wonderful country and so very beautiful but we have MAJOR problems with our indiginous population and the crime has escalated so badly. Also we have BEE (where they get the jobs) but luckily (or not) I work for attorneys so at the moment I am ok for work.
The Cape is beautiful, was last there in 1976. Where in Zim did your great great grandfather live. My Granny and Grandpa went to Southern and Northern Rhodesia in the 1920s where in many places my gran was the first white woman many of the locals had ever seen.
Wine is very enjoyable but my knowledge is not as great as yours. Just enjoy a good one.
Did you watch the Tri Nations game last weekend. Suppose you dont wanna talk about it. When we eventually get back to NZ we will support the All Blacks they are our 2nd team and the Boks coach is such an idiot that we are almost ready to change our allegiance but the players are fantastic especially the ones from the Sharks.
Thnx for the info on downloading pics but as I said when I can find a decent one I will download it. Just seen the time and its time for home - will have to travel for 40mins before at home which will be about 17h45 so will say cheers for now speak to you again soon.
Kind regards
Trish
Kia Ora Guy
At this stage I dont have a photo on the computer (battling to find a nice one - hehe) and dont know how to down load it yet, this is all new to me. My daughter and I lived in Auckland in 2000 and 2001 and we are trying desparately to get back as things are going from bad to worse in South Africa. We met a lot of S A's and Kiwis when we were there. Where are yr friends in SA from?
Have an awesome evening
Cheers
Trish
Hi Suzanne,
As you are coming all this way, you really should try and see some thing of both Islands. I know that the South Island is heavily promoted as the only place to go. However, my having been a Professional Tour Guide and acredited tour operator for a number of years, I can assure you their is equally some superb and spectacular scenery, and nature opportunitys in the North Island as well. I am glad you made the decision to rent a car, because it does give you a great deal more flexibility, than being tied to a coach schedule. My recommendation is that you start your tour from Auckland and not Christchurch. Pick up rental car in Auckland and work your way down the Northern Island travelling via Coromandel, or the other way via Waitomo Caves, brief visit Rotorua, then to Lake Taupo, over to
OMG. I think I need to come and visit you. I'm going to Switzerland this summer(July) Maybe a winter trip down under? You got that California look instead of a New Zealand look. I love it!! Gary
