Looks like I will be traveling over the day before 13OCT. So Im looking forward to meeting up with others at the ball I guess. I am interested in the camping venture, if anyone knows about that. I am doing this on a dare from coworkers, as I have the month of October off. Sounds like a real adventure that I would never forget. Looking forward to meeting new people that like to have a good time

Okay! Keisha came over last night and we finally figured out our plans. We are soooo excited. Anyone care to tag along? You are more than welcome to join us!

On Sat. the 17th we fly from Auckland to Queenstown right off the bat, hire an SUV and tour the town and spend one night there. Sunday is funday! with a looksy and tramping around Fiordland national park and possibly Lake Te Anau and surrounding area. Start making our way towards Christchurch by Monday the 19th. Tour Christchuch area, and catch dinner with Paul S. and the rest of those that night. Tues. 20th we take a nice relaxing train ride to Picton. Stay one night in Nelson. Wed. 21, we travel to Archway Islands at Wharariki Beach for horse back riding on the beach. (Woo hoo! Go Cowgirls Go!) Then return to Picton later that day to take the ferry to Wellington and spend one night there. Thurs. 22, take a quick "puddle jump" and fly out of Wellington to Hamilton, and drive to Rotorua and surrounding areas, spend one night somewhere near there. Friday 23, off to Waitomo for the Glow worm caves, after that stay at a B&B in Waikato. Sat. 24, get up real early head back to Auckland, make a pit stop at Piha Beach to check out those FINE surfer dudes, then back to Auckland for our relaxing spa (Hey Keisha! do ya think we can get a real good looking Kiwi guy to do our massage??) and board the plane late that night homeward bound to the US with great memories and mementos.
Then, start planning for our next visit to finish out the rest of NZ and stay with all the cool kiwi friends we made on this trip. Hee hee!
Ciao!

Aloha Steve, the "Ball" is being held at the Sky City Hotel where many of us who bought the 2 day package inAKL are staying...it will be held the Friday night after our arrival on Thursday...as far as what to wear,my advice is bring something you wear to a dress up affair such as a dinner party in a nice place-slacks and a coat jacket or maybe a nice leather jacket-my feeling is it will be still a bit chilly(for me coming from Hawaii) so I will be wearing a long dress...Anyway, that's just my opinion, but when the party gets going and wine is flowing-well,it won't really matter what u are wearing!!!Aloha Deedee

Hi All:

I am trying to find information on the "Ball" we are having in Auckland. I know I read about it and now cannot find the info. When and where is it held? Is it causal or fancy? Thanks for any insight. Cannot wait to start this adventure!

Aloha All,How's this-I leave the 17th on Sat.afternoon and fly to Rarotonga,Cook Islands where it's still Friday and arrive there with an extra day to enjoy the Islands-Has anyone been to Aitutaki, another magical island in the Cooks?I am planning on at least a day trip there,an island with an enclosed, powder blue lagoon inside the island!I hope some of you will join me in the Cooks before returning to LAX-there is one direct flight from Rarotonga that leaves on Saturday and yes it does arrive back in the USA on Sunday...!!

Hey Paula! We leave at 10:45pm on the 13th and land the morning of the 15th. Yeah, it's kind of blowing my mind, too! I've always flown within 7 time zones, and usually to the east. So this is a first for me, too - taking off all this time and losing an entire day!
